i-SHAWN is the freshest new R&B singer/songwriter to emerge on Switzerland's Black Music scene, hailing from Geneva but originally from the Philippines. Being raised in a musical environment, he grew a strong interest and passion for singing at an early age after hearing his father perform as a professional singer and continuously practicing with his brothers and sister. After moving to Switzerland, he honed his vocal and performance skills by captivating audiences at numerous talent shows and club P.A.'s across the country, which finally lead to a meeting with already well-established “DirtySoul Records” producer and label owner Chris "The Bridge" Murith (Yvette Michelle, Willy Denzey, etc.) in 2003. The new-found chemistry between the two became evident whilst recording the first self-entitled 6-track EP within the same year. Continuing the good musical relationship, i-SHAWN dropped his first full-length 11-track album "Only You" in 2005. Word of the new R&B-cat on the block spread like a wild fire, and soon he found himself in the studio collaborating with local Rap heavyweights such as Opee and O.D. His second LP "Employee Of The Month" from 2007 still remains without doubt one of the most solid, credible and high-quality Swiss contemporary R&B albums ever released and has definitely raised the bar and set a standard for new arising Swiss talent. After working as a demo singer/songwriter for Japanese artists and recently touring with rising Swiss R&B/Pop princess Shana P. as a background vocalist, i-SHAWN has finally returned to the studio to start work on his brand-new, yet untitled album, which will feature various international collaborators, most notably U.S. top producer Bei Maejor (Ne-Yo, TreySongz, LeToya Luckett, Chingy, Plies, etc.). i-SHAWN's vocal delivery is warm, smooth, sultry and soulful, the sound is mature yet contemporary and the lyrics are deep and meaningful, which sets him apart from the usual clichés found in modern-day run-of-the-mill R&B. Showcasing growth and improvement with every release, his music has already surprised critics and reviewers, earned him respect, support and airplay from some of the UK's major radio DJ's and tastemakers, as well as local radio stations in the U.S., and is quickly gaining recognition from R&B fans and blog sites all over the world, especially in Europe and Asia. Many have tried and failed, but i-SHAWN has what it takes to fill the void and breathe new life into Switzerland's rather uncolourful and conservative music scene.
